Two first-level doctoral programs and five first-level master's degree programs added

  Recently, the Office of the Degree Committee of the State Council has published the 2017 audit results and adjustments of degree authorization. According to results, Tianjin University of Science and Technology(TUST) has been approved two first-class doctor's degree authorization centers of the Chemical Engineering and Technology and the Mechanical Engineering, and four first-class master’s degree authorization centers of Chemical, Bioengineering, Design and Applied Economics. In addition, the first-class master’s degree authorization center of the Software Engineering has been approved as well.

  Our university ranks second among all universities in Tianjin for the amount of new first-class doctor’s degree authorization centers. Now with four first-class degree doctor’s authorization centers, our university ranks third among all universities authorized by Tianjin Municipal Commission of Education in Tianjin. The approval of first-class doctor’s degree authorization centers on Chemical Engineering and Technology and the Mechanical Engineering, TUST traditional characteristic subjects, will tremendously promote our ability of serving the needs of the national and local economic and social development.

  The first-class master’s degree authorization centers of the Applied Economics is the first master’s degree authorization centers among all economic disciplines in our university. After got the approval of this master’s degree, the amount of disciplines that have master and above degree authorization have increased to eight, including Engineering, Science, Agronomy, Medicine, Management, Literature, Art and Economics.

  This approval of degree authorization centers relies on the high attention and scientific decision-making of university party committee and administration, and the concerted efforts of teachers and students in the whole university. TUST will take this approval as an opportunity to continue to strengthen the construction of degree subjects, develop postgraduate cultivation platform and conditions and promote the works of degrees and postgraduate education to a new level.
