National-level International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Mega Health Biotechnology

  Recently, the information came from the Ministry of Science and Technology that the National-level International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Mega Health Biotechnology declared by our university, recommended by Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, has been recognized as a model national-level international cooperation base for the year 2017 (National External Letter (2018) No.5), which, as the only approved one of Tianjin in 2017. It indicates that our university has made a significant progress in international science and technology cooperation,and achieved new breakthroughs in the construction of a national-level scientific research platform in the field of mega health biotechnology.

  With the purpose of breaking through the mechanism of mega health biotechnology and developing the cutting-edge technology for mega health biotechnology, the National-level International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Mega Health Biotechnology, relying on the Tianjin Mega Health Biotechnology International Joint Research Center and the Mega Health Biotechnology Research Institute of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, has developed three key research directions, including auxotrophic cilia disease, antibiotic substitutes, and non-toxic immune protection of livestock, and established in-depth cooperative relationship with a number of famous American universities and colleges as well as United Nations organizations such as International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB, Italy), Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO, Italy), Melinda-Gates Foundation (USA)，University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA), University of Georgia (USA), and Albany Medical College (USA).
  The National-level International Science and Technology Cooperation Base refers to the organizational carrier identified by the National Ministry of Science and Technology which enjoys the potential for further development, plays an important role in guidance and demonstration, and has achieved remarkable results in undertaking the national and international science and technology cooperation tasks. It altogether consists of the following four types like International Innovation Park, International Joint Research Center, International Technology Transfer Center, and Model International Science and Technology Cooperation Base. The establishment of National-level International Science and Technology Cooperation Base aims at exerting its promotion role in expanding scientific and technological openness and cooperation more effectively so as to improving the quality and level of international science and technology cooperation of China, which, as a result, will play a leading and demonstrating role in the development of international science and technology cooperation among regions or areas.
