2018-05-24

On May 3, the Georgian ambassador to China, Dr. David Aptsiauri, visited TUST. Deputy secretary of TUST party committee and President, Han jinyu and vice President Lu fuping met with the ambassador. Relevant comrades of the International Exchange Office attended the meeting.

Han jinyu welcomed the visiting guests and thanked ambassador David Aptsiauri for his tireless efforts to promote cooperation between TUST and the universities in Georgia. Han jinyu points out that with the ambassador's help, deputy prime minister of Georgia visited TUST in 2015, during which the two sides reached a preliminary cooperation intention on joint scientific research and talent exchanges. On the other hand, TUST sent delegations to visit the universities in Georgia, carrying out a series of exchanges and cooperation. Han jinyu expressed the hope that Mr Ambassador will continue to actively promote the cultural and academic exchanges and cooperation, and will also, as a visiting professor, give lectures to our students and recommend more excellent Georgia international students to study in TUST for a degree.

The ambassador will step down in June. He recalled his efforts made for the promotion of cooperation between TUST and Georgian universities. He said that he will continue to be ardently engaged in the academic cooperation and cultural communications between Chinese and Georgian universities after leaving office. At present, the two countries are in close cooperation in the fields of education and economy, and he sincerely hope TUST could draw on its strengths and seize the opportunities to cooperate with Georgian counterparts in mechanical engineering, food and agricultural products processing, financial management, and other related professional cooperation actively.
