On August 20, the Secretariat of the National Agricultural Science Graduate Volunteer Service Alliance announced the results of the 2023 National Postgraduate Rural Revitalization Volunteer ServiceExcellent Case Evaluations. The project "Fisheries Technology Aid to Tibet and Brine Shrimp Culture Technology Volunteer Service" from College of Marine and Environmental Sciences of Tianjin University of Science and Technology won the national second prize in this competition.
This project was supervised by Professor Sui Liying and Mr. Han Xuekai from College of Marine and Environmental Sciences, with Li Ke, a postgraduate of 2021, serving as the person in charge. The team conducted surveys on biological resources in Tibetan salt lakes and research on the development and utilization of plateau brine shrimp resources to support the national "Fishery Science and Technology Aid to Tibet" plan, providing strong support for standardizing the market for brine shrimp eggs in Tibet and enhancing their market competitiveness. The achievements of the Asian Regional Artemia Reference Center's aid to Tibet were featured in a special report on xuexi.cn. The team developed techniques for the cultivation and breeding of brine shrimp, increasing the yield of brine shrimp cultivation in the tidal flat areas of the Bohai Sea, significantly improving the economic benefits of enterprises, and joining the national joint breeding platform for prawn, providing high biosafety brine shrimp bait for prawns. In addition, the team gave lectures and training on "Sustainable Development and Utilization Techniques for Brine Shrimp Resources. The team received high recognition from the trainees.
