Principal of Heriot-Watt University Visited TUST

On September 18th, Professor Richard A Williams, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University of the UK, and his team visited TUST. Professor Lu Fuping, TUST President, and Professor Wang Min, TUST Vice President, met with the visiting guests.

Professor Lu Fuping said that the joint education program in brewing and distillation between the two universities has trained a large number of outstanding graduates. Both universities have also achieved excellent results in teacher-student exchanges and academic research. He hoped that both universities could gather consensus, cooperate for win-win results, effectively improve the matching degree of talent training, and enhance the influence of the two universities.

Professor Wang Min made a brief introduction of TUST and its international exchange and cooperation in recent years to the visiting guests. She said that TUST was grasping the great opportunity of the national "Double First Class" construction, accelerating the construction of a high-level characteristic university with world-class disciplines, looking forward to working with Heriot-Watt University to train more international professional talents and compose a more exciting new chapter in international exchange and cooperation.

Professor Richard Williams and Ms. Lucy Everest, the Global Chief Operating Officer of Heriot-Watt University, respectively made a brief introduction of Heriot-Watt University and its international exchange and cooperation. They fully affirmed the good achievements made in cooperation with TUST and looked forward to deeper cooperation between the two universities.

Mr. Du Yangang, the Party Chief of College of Bioengineering, and Professor Igor Guz, Executive Dean of School of Engineering & Physical Sciences of Heriot-Watt University, made reports of the joint education program between the two universities.

The participants from both universities had in-depth discussions on how to continue to run the joint education program well, how to jointly train postgraduates, the mobility of teachers and students, and how to cooperate in scientific research, and reached consensus on all these issues.
