"Impregnable Defense" sculpture donated by national defense students unveiled

On November 9, the "Impregnable Defense" sculpture donated by all the national defense students from grades 2003 to 2016 is unveiled. Zhang Aihua, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), Ma Haifeng, director of the PLA Selection and Cultivation Office stationed at TUST, Qiu Ge, deputy director of the Office, and responsible comrades from President's Office, Student Affairs Office, Publication Department, and Education and Management Center for National Defense Students, representatives for teachers from National Defense Student Training School, the sculpture design team, and for graduate national defense students, as well as all the national defense students on campus gathered in the square in front of 14th building of Hexi Campus, witnessing the significance moment of Tianjin University of Science and Technology(TUST) in cultivating national defense students on this warm and sunny day in early winter.
The ceremony began with the unveiling of the sculpture by Secretary Zhang Aihua, Director Ma Haifeng, Sun Zhiyu, representative of first batch of graduate national defense students and Wu Bohao, representative of in-school national defense students. In his speech, Zhang Aihua highly affirmed the achievements made by the national defense students in TUST over the years, and put forward three eager hopes for them: to forge spiritual coordinates to obey the Party's command, to consolidate the quality foundation of winning battle, and to inherit the fine tradition of work.
Lu Aijiang, director of Student Affairs Office delivered a speech at the ceremony. He congratulated on the completion of the sculpture and expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the PLA Selection and Cultivation Office and the design team for their efforts in building the sculpture.
Tianjin University of Science and Technology has been cultivating national defense students for 14 years, and has sent over 1000 outstanding national defense graduates to the army. The completion of the "Impregnable Defense" sculpture condenses the trust of TUST, shows the endeavor of teachers, indicates the efforts of Selection and Cultivation Office, and highlights the youth dedication of TUST national defense students. It will become the symbol of the national defense students' spirit of TUST, and the earnest blessing of all the national defense students to the 60th birthday of TUST. The sculpture was cast with ambitions of serving to the country and gratitude to commemorate. National defense students, born for national defense, give the small gift to TUST, and will also take the blessing of TUST to go ahead.
